Barbara Hall, founder of Open Chapters Therapy and Consulting, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified EMDR Therapist, Registered Play Therapist™(RPT), and EMDR Consultant-in-Training dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and heal from trauma. She is licensed to provide therapy in both Nevada and California. Barbara is welcoming, warm, client-centered, knowledgeable, and very passionate about supporting clients in ways that they need.
Through her extensive training, Barbara integrates diverse therapeutic modalities, including EMDR, play therapy, Internal Family Systems-informed care, Ego States-informed care, expressive arts, and sand tray therapy to create personalized treatment plans for each her clients. She is especially skilled at blending these approached and tailoring interventions to meet each client's needs and goals.
Barbara has significant training and experience in working with those who have experienced both complex, long-term trauma and sudden, life altering trauma. Barbara has significant experience working with diverse populations, including children and their caregivers (toddler through adolescent years), parents, young adults, and adults. She has worked with children and their parents referred by Children Advocacy Centers, as well as adults and young adults referred through victim support groups in Nevada and California.
She works closely with children and their caregivers, helping to strengthen their bond while addressing emotional and behavioral challenges. She provides individual trauma therapy for children, teens, adults along with parenting support. Her experience includes supporting clients facing anxiety, struggles with identity and sense of self, sexual trauma, physical and emotional abuse, neglect, and recovery from war, domestic violence, trafficking, and accidents. She also helps parents struggling with parenting challenges, children as young as three, children living with relatives, first responders, correctional officers, adoptees, foster children, other professionals, and those affected by severe trauma.
In her practice, Barbara is inspired by the power of creativity and connection in the healing process. Whether engaging young children in therapeutic play or guiding adults through transformative breakthroughs, she creates a compassionate and supportive environment for growth and self-discovery.
As an EMDR Consultant-in-Training with The EMDR Center of Southern California, Barbara mentors fellow clinicians, sharing her passion for professional growth and skill development. She offers warm, collaborative guidance to help therapists confidently integrate EMDR and other therapeutic approaches, empowering them to navigate complex cases with empathy and adaptability.
